…for its shameful coverage of the Sikh Temple shooting today in Milwaukee. The following is from one of my old teachers: 

:Watching CNN coverage of the temple shooting has led me to lose any shred of respect I may have mistakenly had for that channel. Why?

1. Don Lemon says about 300 times that Sikhs are not Muslims. Ok, and? If they were, this would be understandable?

2. Saying multiple times that we can not speculate about the motives of a possibly deranged individual, when I don’t recall anyone holding back speculation when the shooting at Ft. Hood occurred. No one gave that possibly deranged shooter the benefit of the doubt.

3. Commentator saying that “these people” were in the place that they should have belonged, implying that non-white, non-Christians should only feel at home among those like them, not in American society at large.

4. Commentator asking Sikhs to explain their religion, as if if they said something questionable, it would explain why this happened.

5. The topper: Asking a Sikh man what his religion says about forgiveness. What an utterly insulting question at such a sensitive time. Would any journalist ask that to a Christian or a Jew when a member of their community had just been shot and killed? What does that have to do with anything?”
